Job Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comprehend and align with the MSI-A mission and vision while upholding pharmacy standards.
  • Receive and stock medicines according to Goods Issue Notes (GINs) and Goods Receive Notes (GRNs) as directed by the Pharmacy Officer.
  • Manage stock inflow and outflow per MSIA procedures and ensure accurate usage of stock cards.
  • Organize and label medicines alphabetically or by pharmacological category.
  • Implement First In, First Out (FIFO) and First Expired, First Out (FEFO) inventory systems in the pharmacy.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all documents, including GRNs, stock cards, usage reports, and expired medicine lists.
  • Dispense medicines to clients based on prescriptions issued by MSI-A clinic doctors.
  • Prepare monthly medicine usage reports and submit them for further review.
  • Conduct monthly physical stock counts and maintain an updated inventory.
  • Request medicines, consumables, and equipment as necessary.
  • Ensure patients are well-informed about medicine usage following doctors’ prescriptions.
  • Oversee the administration of pharmacy stock and reorder supplies as directed while monitoring expiry dates.
  • Maintain pharmacy inventory in alignment with MSI-A supervision checklists.
  • Notify the pharmacy focal point at the head office about impending expiries at least three months in advance.
  • Be flexible to work outside normal hours when required.
  • Keep the pharmacy area clean, neat, and organized.
  • Strengthen referral systems by directing patients to appropriate medical staff or facilities as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Pharmacy (Pharm-D or Bachelor's in Pharmacy).
  • Solid understanding of the healthcare system and pharmaceutical market in Afghanistan.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Dari and English.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both local and international teams.
  • Minimum of two years of experience, preferably with health-focused NGOs (national or international).
