Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the health team, led by the project medical doctor, during field visits to the project area to identify individuals with urgent health needs.
  • Take patient history, check vital signs, and register patient details in the logbook and relevant project documents.
  • Administer injections, fluids, and support the project medical doctor in following proper health protocols for patient management.
  • Conduct health education sessions in the community to raise awareness and promote disease prevention.
  • Educate community members in the project area on preventing communicable and non-communicable diseases.
  • Lead discussions on hygiene, seasonal illnesses, and the importance of preventive measures against viruses during awareness sessions.
  • Distribute information, education, and communication (IEC) and behavior change communication (BCC) materials during health awareness gatherings with project participants.
  • Refer complex or critical cases encountered in the field to the project medical doctor for consultation.
  • Identify and prioritize vulnerable groups, such as women, people with disabilities, children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic conditions.
  • Facilitate communication and coordinate services between the provincial team and community leaders, including faith leaders (Imams), women leaders, and youth, for COVID-19 awareness initiatives.
  • Create an environment conducive to discussions and feedback during one-on-one meetings and interactive sessions, utilizing IEC materials.
  • Collect feedback from participants, ensuring their views and suggestions are systematically recorded.
  • Capture high-quality photos, quotes, and case studies for project documentation.
  • Perform any other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Degree in Nursing.

Experience:

  • At least 1-2 years of relevant experience, particularly in health and nutrition.
  • Experience in staff management, public outreach, counseling, community mobilization, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Strong command of Pashto/Dari.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic team and handle diverse responsibilities.
  • Prior work experience in the targeted province, particularly in Roy-e Douab and Khuram Wa Sarbagh Districts, with familiarity in the local community, geography, and culture.
