Job Description:

  • Implement the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and Aga Khan Health Service – Afghanistan (AKHS-A) National medicine policy, long-term action plan, and annual pharmaceutical report.
  • Supervise and assist the stock medical officer and warehouse manager with technical and management tasks.
  • Responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and monitoring pharmaceutical activities.
  • Support and oversee the overall supply of medicines and medical equipment, ensuring accuracy in collaboration with the logistics department.
  • Conduct training sessions for pharmacists at the provincial level and within health facilities.
  • Identify and report issues that hinder service delivery.
  • Organize drug supply management training courses for provincial health workers.
  • Provide first aid kits for the office and emergency kits for vehicles in transit.
  • Ensure that medicine supplies are organized according to their expiration dates.
  • Guarantee safe, clean, and proper storage of all medicines and medical equipment in the warehouse.
  • Participate in coordination meetings related to pharmaceutical issues at the MOPH and with other stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly activity reports for the pharmacy department.
  • Oversee the distribution of stock, including medicines, medical supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
  • Estimate the number of drugs required for implementing the Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) and Essential Package of Hospital Services (EPHS) at each facility, based on actual needs and consumption data.
  • Assist in implementing drug consumption forms in all health facilities supported by the NGO.
  • Review and provide feedback on drug requests before final approval.
  • Prepare order lists for medicines, medical supplies, and equipment in coordination with the national team.
  • Coordinate with the administration and logistics department to ensure that all medical supplies are properly sent and received by regional offices and facilities.
  • Conduct audits and evaluations as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a relationship with relevant MOPH departments to strengthen BPHS and EPHS.
  • Provide training for pharmacy officers to enhance staff knowledge.
  • Responsible for training in related fields and any tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in pharmacy and a minimum of 5 years of professional experience.
  • Experience in quality assurance for pharmaceutical procurement is a plus.
