Job Description:

The Nutrition Nurse will be responsible for below duties and responsibilities:

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

Carrying out systematic nutrition screening of the children under 5 years at SHC.

 

Ensuring timely therapeutic preparation and administering the appropriate feeds and medicines for the malnourished children in the SHC.

Carrying out daily nutritional status monitoring of severely malnourished children as prescribed in the protocol.

Providing appropriate nutrition counselling and health education to the mothers and caretakers in the SC based on the protocols and guidelines.

Ensuring adequate availability of all drugs and nutrition supply and ensuring stock is pre-positioned as planned.

Preparing and updating the medical and nutritional record for ward rounds daily.

To accurately measure and record MUAC, weights, heights, and lengths of the beneficiaries according to the nutrition criteria.

Prepare nutrition counseling to client as per MoPH nutrition guideline or policy.

Calculate RUTF and other medical supplies (Vitamin A, Mebendazole etc.) to malnourished children and give on weekly basis

Follow up of malnourished children if they don’t center through CHW.

Preparing report for cooking demonstrations monthly bases.

Submit relevant forms at the end of each day and restock field supplies as necessary.

Work closely with women and small children

Assist the health team led by the project medical doctor in the field visit in the project implementation area to identify those with emergency health needs.

 

Take patient history, check vital signs, register, and records the patient details to the registration log and other project documents.

Apply injections, fluids, and assist the project medical doctor in the proper health protocols in the patient management.

Conduct awareness sessions to the community to elevate their health education and awareness level to stay protected from different diseases.

Provide awareness to the right holders in the project area about the importance of prevention from the communicable and non-communicable diseases.

 

Job Requirements:

Education:

 

Obtained a degree in Nursing.

(Bachelor’s degree in nursing) preferable

Experience:

 

Minimum 1-2 years’ work experience, particularly in the field of health and Nutrition

IMAM Training

 

Experience in staff management, public outreach/ counselling, community mobilization, coordination with stakeholders.

Strong Command on Pashto/Dari

Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-ethnic team and take on diverse tasks.

Working experience in the targeted provinces and familiar with concerned community, geography and culture.
