Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Perform daily ward rounds to observe and assess patients, ensuring case notes, transfers, referrals, and discharges are recorded daily.
- Conduct regular clinic sessions.
- Monitor patient progress on a consistent basis.
- Respond to emergency cases as needed.
- Carry out emergency surgical procedures when on duty.
- Provide counseling to patients and their families on health management.
- Ensure timely access to necessary support services, particularly for patient referrals to specialists.
- Collaborate with consultants to manage specialized patient care.
- Participate in clinical activities and assist departmental heads with accurate medical reports, audits, and mortality reviews.
- Take part in clinical audit activities, presentations, rounds, and clinical teaching by visiting consultants.
- Follow the duty schedule set by the Medical/Clinical Director or their representative.
- Provide training to healthcare providers (nurses and midwives) on specialized techniques.
- Supervise and evaluate staff performance, identifying their training needs as per departmental requirements.
- Actively engage in clinical audits, infection prevention, and standards-based management.
- Support community midwifery students with teaching and clinical guidance.
- Contribute to clinical governance and quality assurance activities.
- Rotate through other clinical departments as required.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Department or Medical/Clinical Director.
Qualifications:
- Education: MD
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- Technical Skills: Ability to create supervision and monitoring plans, and conduct gap analysis
- Other Skills: Proficiency in English and fluency in local languages
