Job Description:
- Screen children under five years old and pregnant or lactating women for acute malnutrition.
- Lead individual and group nutrition counseling sessions tailored to the needs of clients and caregivers.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control protocols.
- Accurately record nutrition data in clinic registers and complete summary reports on time.
- Monitor growth by recording height, weight, and MUAC measurements for all children under two years old.
- Provide counseling for mothers and caregivers of children under two years old on optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices, infection prevention, and community mobilization.
- Classify children into categories: Normal, Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM), or Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM).
- Distribute Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) and Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food (RUSF) to children diagnosed with SAM and MAM, and Super-Cereal for pregnant and lactating women with acute malnutrition.
- Report daily activities, achievements, success stories, lessons learned, and challenges to the team leader.
- Promote proper nutrition and exclusive breastfeeding through community outreach and awareness campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Nutrition Officer and other healthcare staff to ensure a coordinated service delivery approach.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements:
- Graduation from a recognized nursing faculty.
- At least two years of experience as a Nutrition Nurse or Dietitian.
- Ability to conduct awareness sessions and diagnose and treat malnourished children.
- Familiarity with Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS).
- Strong report-writing skills, teamwork abilities, and good communication.
- Proficiency in the local language (Dari/Pashto) and a working knowledge of English.
