Union Aid (UA) was founded in July 1979 in Peshawar, Pakistan, by a group of Afghan philanthropists and social activists. The organization initially focused on supporting Afghan refugees and the surrounding host communities near refugee camps through projects in three primary areas: health, education, and skills development. UA has delivered essential health services via hospitals, Basic Health Units (BHUs), maternity services, prosthetic limb provision, and first aid training. In education, it has supported Afghan refugees by offering basic and higher education, skills development programs for both men and women, literacy centers, and scholarships.
Currently, Union Aid actively contributes to various humanitarian and development initiatives, including healthcare, nutrition, education, scholarships, technical vocational training, family support programs, emergency response, livelihood development, food security, shelter, construction and rehabilitation of community infrastructure, environmental protection, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH).
