- Follow all Jhpiego-UHI policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
- Carry out tasks according to the work and development plan.
- Ensure the security of the office, guest house, warehouse, vehicle parking areas, and staff.
- Conduct searches on all UHI staff and visitors per guidelines.
- Lock all windows and doors when staff leave the premises.
- Verify the identity and purpose of visitors; do not allow entry to unknown individuals without supervisor approval.
- Conduct routine patrols of the compound and surrounding areas every 10 minutes.
- Be alert for unauthorized individuals, suspicious activities, or objects.
- Check with the supervisor before delivering letters or other items, ensuring they reach the correct person.
- Stay at your post unless properly relieved by a replacement or granted permission by the supervisor.
- Brief your replacement on events during your shift and transfer any equipment (mobile phone, radio, etc.) during handover.
- Inspect gutters, cracks, and hidden areas inside and outside the perimeter every hour.
- Clear any trash from in front of your and neighbors' compounds.
- Prevent vehicles from parking in front of the compound; if you can't identify the driver, alert the supervisor.
- Ensure that any items leaving the premises have a valid gate pass.
- If you discover a suspicious or explosive object, do not touch it; move 100 meters away to a secure location and notify security forces.
- Do not allow delivery trucks into the compound without supervisor authorization.
- Keep doors and gates locked at all times and monitor the surroundings when opening the door for anyone.
- Keep the VHF radio charged; report any issues to the supervisor immediately.
- At least one guard must remain awake overnight.
- Sleeping during work hours is strictly prohibited and may lead to immediate dismissal.
- The mobile phone is for emergencies only; do not use it for personal reasons or remove it from the compound.
- In emergencies at guest houses, call for help, alert nearby houses, notify others in the house, and inform the supervisor to contact the police and office guards.
- Turn the generator on and off as per the office schedule.
- Manage compound lighting in the evening and morning, ensuring they function properly.
- Refill generator fuel as needed and record usage in the generator logbook.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials and equipment as needed.
- Be familiar with fire drill procedures and know the location of fire extinguishers.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- High school graduate.
- 2-3 years of experience as a security guard with international or humanitarian NGOs.
- Prior experience working in complex and high-risk environments.
- Proficiency in both local languages (Pashto and Dari); knowledge of English is a plus.
- Security awareness.
