Job Description:

The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for looking after children who accompany their mothers to the MCHC, engaging them in recreational activities within the safe environment of the child-friendly corner. This role is integral to the comprehensive services provided at the MCHC. Working under the supervision of the MCHC In Charge, the educator will collaborate closely with other team members, including the Midwife, Psychosocial Counselors, Social Mobilizer, and Female Youth Educator.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the child-friendly corner is a safe environment for children.
• Creating and implementing activities that support the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
• Engaging children in recreational activities such as storytelling, play, and creative arts (crafting, painting, drawing), fostering a secure environment that promotes their overall well-being.
• Planning innovative and age-appropriate activities to keep children engaged through fun and play.
• Assessing the abilities, interests, and needs of the children.
• Providing a supportive environment for mothers, enabling them to participate in PSS activities without worrying about their children.
• Maintaining a safe, clean environment for children and regularly inspecting for any safety hazards.
• Addressing any safety or cleanliness concerns in collaboration with relevant personnel.
• Communicating with mothers to address specific needs or concerns related to their children.
• Offering emotional support to both children and mothers.
• Working with other team members to improve the overall effectiveness of the MCHC.

Job Requirements:

• Ideally, a 12th-grade graduate.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience working with children and in child development.
• Experience in Child Friendly Spaces is an advantage.
• Fluency in spoken Dari/Pashto.
