Purpose of contract this position:
The position of “Senior geotechnical Laboratory specialist” is created to perform the following duties and responsibilities) Conducting geotechnical and soil mechanic tests and providing test reports.
Purpose of the job
Provide investigation design, approximate cost estimates, scope-of-work, evaluation of test result, and coordination for geotechnical investigations and soils laboratory results analysis .and arrangement of test reports of hydraulic and hydrotechnical projects of the Ministry of Water and Energy
Duties & Responsibilities
Oversees of geotechnical site investigations.
Supervision and execution of laboratory tests of the Directorate of Laboratory of Water Facilities
Understanding and suggesting the best suited advice about geotechnical issues during construction.
ability to analyze and calculate ground settlement, bearing capacity, and soil improvement solutions in project construction.
The ability to classifies rock and soil by systems: (ASTM&AASHTO)
Providing a monitoring plane to check dams after construction.
Familiarity with geotechnical issues and technical specification of the project.
Check and oversees of concrete, mortar, asphalt and etc. during execution.
Monitoring the result of various geotechnical tests.
Check and supervision of geotechnical design.
Check and oversees of all type of construction material.
Understanding and reviewing of geotechnical reports and geotechnical parts of the TOR for execution of work.
Preparation of geotechnical reports for water facility projects
Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be given by the relevant directorate.
Assist in coordinating technical staff training for the current MEW Irrigation system project
Provide other technical advice and duties as requested.
Preparation of monthly activity reports.
Job Requirements:
Experience/Education
The candidate must have at least a bachelor's degree in geology/geotechnical engineering, with 5 years of related work experience and a master's degree in geology/geotechnical engineering, with 3 years of related work experience and higher than that is preferred and have the following experience
In-depth knowledge in ASTM, DIN, ISRM, ACI, AASHTO, USBR and USACE codes and standards.
Be capable of sampling, testing, analyze the result of geotechnical and soil mechanic tests.
In-depth knowledge in SPT tests, Tri-axial tests and Lugeon tests
The participant in this position must have at least one year of work experience in conducting dam project tests.
Knowledge and using of finite element software are preferable.
Speaking fluently in English.
