Job Summary:
The Community Mobilizer is mainly responsible for community level coordination, mobilization, sensitization as well as closely working with community members for the establishment Child-Friendly Space (CFSs). The Community Mobilizer will also support the project team in identification of vulnerable children with protection concerns including unaccompanied and separated children to be referred to the Child Protection Case Workers and Psychosocial Support counselors for case management services and psychosocial counseling. Community Mobilizers with the support from communities will help during the facilitation of awareness raising sessions in the CFSs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Social Woker/Community Mobilizer will be responsible for:
Community Engagement and Mobilization
Establish and maintain trustful relationships with communities, engaging them to identify project priorities and promote participation in health, child protection, and NFI activities.
Mobilize community members to participate in awareness sessions in Child Friendly Safe Spaces, Mother and Child Health Centers, and other relevant activities.
Beneficiary Identification and Outreach
Conduct outreach and vulnerability assessments to identify at-risk children and families in need of protection, health, or NFI support.
Assess specific needs such as Child protection, NFIs, and health services for eligible beneficiaries.
Support and Referral Services
Provide direct support to vulnerable families or facilitate referrals to appropriate service providers (e.g., health services, psychosocial support, child protection, or emergency NFIs).
Maintain accurate records of referrals, follow-ups, and services provided, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with child safeguarding protocols.
Monitoring and Reporting
Conduct regular field visits to supervise community-based activities such as Child-Friendly Spaces (CFSs) and community-based protection mechanisms (CBPMs) if established.
Collect and document relevant information (e.g., assessment forms, follow-up records, referral forms) to monitor progress and ensure effective delivery of services.
Provide weekly reports to the Line Manager, highlighting achievements, challenges, and proposed solutions.
Awareness and Capacity Building
Organize and conduct community sensitization sessions on health, child protection, and NFI-related topics.
Collaborate with beneficiaries to develop action plans for protection interventions and ensure their active involvement in the implementation process.
Child Protection and Safeguarding
Maintain and regularly update service mapping of local resources and organizations providing child protection services.
Ensure adherence to child protection policies, reporting any risks, concerns, or safeguarding incidents to the relevant focal points.
Other Responsibilities
Perform other duties as assigned by the Line Manager that align with the project scope, ensuring flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the community and project.
Job Requirements:
Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in relevant disciplines (e.g., Social Work, Social Science, research methods, education etc) with 2-3 years of relevant experience
Grader 12th high school certificate: with 3-5 your years working experience in social work/ community mobilization
Additional qualification or certification of Social Work, community mobilization
Experience:
Proven experience in outreach, vulnerability assessments, and working with vulnerable groups, including children and families.
Demonstrated ability to engage and mobilize communities, facilitate awareness sessions, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
Experience in referrals to specialized services and maintaining detailed and confidential case records.
Have relative experience working with reporting and data collection tools such as Kobo, Survey Monkey, Google forms etc.
Skills and Abilities:
Good Communication and interpersonal skills
Good knowledge of community development especially working with children, women, youths, adolescents etc
Excellent social work and community mobilization skills
Experience working with different communities with different cultures
Culture sensitive, respect for local norms and keep confidentiality
Excellent computer, MS office skills
Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
