Key Responsibilities:

  • Programme Oversight: Lead the design and implementation of the country programme focused on population development and data, ensuring alignment with stakeholder priorities and adherence to UNFPA policies. Ensure programme results through proper application of policies, robust monitoring systems, and oversight mechanisms.
  • Technical Engagement: Actively contribute to technical working groups within the UNSFA Strategic Result Area to advance UNFPA initiatives.
  • Data Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to enhance data collection systems (e.g., surveys, censuses, service statistics) and promote their use in development planning. Offer technical support to revitalize civil registration and vital statistics programs.

  • Capacity Building: Design and implement capacity-building programs for stakeholders managing population and development initiatives.
  • Project Implementation: Establish partnerships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts, and UN entities to ensure efficient project delivery and address personnel training needs.
  • Knowledge Management: Analyze population trends and data issues to document lessons learned and best practices, sharing insights for future strategy development.
  • Advocacy and Resource Mobilization: Support advocacy and resource mobilization by preparing key documents such as project summaries and donor profiles, and participating in related events and meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Advanced degree in Public Health, Population Sciences, Demography, Social Sciences, Economics, or Statistics.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of progressive experience in population and sustainable development programs, with expertise in strategic planning, results-based management, and capacity building. Experience in surveys and population censuses is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong communication and knowledge transfer skills.
