Job Summary
The Translation Officer will handle the translation and interpretation of project documents between Dari, Pashto, and English. In addition, they will provide real-time translation support during project training sessions and meetings.

Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

• Assist project activities by providing translation and interpretation support for documents between Dari, Pashto, and English.
• Create, edit, proofread, and finalize the translation of various documents, including manuals, reports, MEL questionnaires, and audio files.
• Offer interpretation support during meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
• Maintain an organized digital filing system for all translation-related tasks.
• Contribute to writing and translating project success stories and training materials.
• Collaborate with the communications manager to review documents before they are published and shared with external audiences.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Communications Manager.

Job Requirements

• An advanced degree in literature, communications, language studies, economics, or another relevant field is required, or a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience.
• Four years of experience working on donor-funded projects in a related role is preferred.
• Proven experience in translation, copywriting, communications, or journalism is required.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a variety of organizations, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word).
• Proficiency in speaking and writing Dari or Pashto is required.
• Fluency in English, including strong report writing skills.
