Position: Nutrition Program Manager
The Nutrition Program Manager will oversee and lead nutrition-related programs within the organization, ensuring alignment with public health objectives, community health improvement, and sustainable nutrition practices. This role involves managing program design, implementation, and evaluation while collaborating with stakeholders and supervising a team to enhance health outcomes for vulnerable groups.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design & Development:
- Develop, plan, and implement community-based nutrition programs focused on improving public health, food security, and nutritional outcomes.
- Assess nutritional needs of target populations and create evidence-based solutions to address them.
- Formulate program strategies in line with WHO guidelines and national health standards.
Team Leadership & Capacity Building:
- Supervise and mentor nutritionists, dietitians, and program staff to achieve program objectives.
- Conduct training to enhance team expertise in nutrition interventions and evaluations.
- Promote teamwork and encourage professional growth within the team.
Program Implementation & Management:
- Ensure nutrition program activities are executed on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to integrate nutrition efforts with other development initiatives.
- Monitor program delivery and adapt interventions to maximize effectiveness.
Monitoring, Evaluation, & Reporting:
- Establish monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track program outcomes and impacts.
- Use data from surveys, focus groups, and health metrics to assess progress and inform adjustments.
- Prepare detailed reports on program status, challenges, and outcomes for stakeholders.
Resource & Budget Management:
- Manage the program budget to ensure resources are used effectively to meet objectives.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities to support program growth.
- Optimize the use of materials, supplies, and personnel while adhering to budget constraints.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build partnerships with government bodies, NGOs, health professionals, and community leaders.
- Advocate for improved nutrition policies at local, regional, and national levels.
- Ensure programs align with community needs and public health priorities.
Advocacy & Public Awareness:
- Organize public awareness campaigns and workshops to promote healthy eating and lifestyle changes.
- Advocate for better food security and nutrition-related policies.
- Represent the organization in national and international forums on nutrition and health.
Research & Innovation:
- Stay updated on nutrition trends and best practices to inform program improvements.
- Encourage innovative approaches in nutrition interventions to reach underserved populations.
- Conduct or support research to enhance program outcomes.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree with significant management experience may be considered.
- Certifications like RDN or CNS are preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in nutrition program management or related fields.
- Experience in community-based nutrition initiatives and working with vulnerable populations.
- Proven leadership and project management capabilities.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Proficiency in program planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Excellent communication, advocacy, and public speaking skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Problem-solving and adaptability to changing program needs.
