Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead morning meetings with staff (if serving as clinic in-charge).
- Conduct monthly staff meetings, draft minutes, and implement action plans (if serving as clinic in-charge).
- Provide guidance and initial consultations for clients during pregnancy (ANC), labor, postnatal care (PNC), and family planning methods.
- Conduct thorough client examinations and offer necessary advice.
- Prescribe appropriate medications based on accurate diagnoses and client needs.
- Clearly explain treatment plans to clients, ensuring ample time for questions.
- Record essential details on client cards and ensure completeness of information.
- Audit monthly clinical records and report findings to the Health Support and Research Team.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention policies across the facility.
- Follow MSI infection prevention protocols during service provision and instrument processing.
- Participate in training sessions assigned by the Health Support and Research Team.
- Act as a clinical trainer if qualified and conduct on-the-job training and supervision for Level 2 providers.
- Keep records of received and provided training in a logbook.
- Conduct competency assessments for other providers.
- Foster good relationships with the community.
- Ensure MEM kits are complete, drugs are up-to-date, and equipment is functional and ready for emergencies.
- Adhere to the FEFO policy for pharmacy stock management and maintain stock cards per MSI policies.
- Prepare for emergency events, including referring clients to other facilities when necessary.
- Obtain and document client consent forms before performing procedures.
- Maintain incident reporting formats and understand clinical and product-related risk ratings.
- Provide MSI family planning services following guidelines and job aids.
- Deliver client-centered counseling using the REDI framework, WHO wheel chart, or MSI flip chart.
- Follow up on internal audits, incidents, client feedback, staff meetings, and supervision plans.
- Promote quality clinical governance and model service standards.
- Ensure all key clinical staff are immunized against HBS and maintain an updated HBS register (if serving as clinic in-charge).
- Perform additional project-related tasks as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Work flexible hours, including outside standard working hours.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the workspace.
- Collect data on antenatal, obstetric, and family planning services.
- Follow proper referral protocols before directing clients to other facilities.
- Provide family planning consultations for all health center visitors.
- Treat clients respectfully, maintain privacy, and ensure confidentiality.
- Assist clients in decision-making by guiding them through their options.
- Respect clients' rights and simplify communication by using clear, concise language.
- Encourage client engagement through questions and sharing concerns.
- Prevent unnecessary referrals to external providers.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in midwifery.
- Strong understanding of Afghanistan’s health system and medical market.
- Proficient written and spoken communication in Dari and English.
Experience:
- 1–3 years of experience, preferably with national or international health NGOs.
Skills:
- Strong analytical abilities and effective communication skills.
- Teamwork-oriented and capable of handling client satisfaction.
- Ability to meet deadlines in results-driven environments.
- Competent in people management, strategic planning, and multitasking.
