Job Description:

 

Oversee all financial and accounting operations of the project, including management of bank accounts, Hawala contracts, petty cash, vendor payments, staff payroll, local tax payments, and all other financial and accounting tasks. Responsibilities include:

 

- Preparing vouchers and recording transactions in QuickBooks.

- Maintaining accurate records of daily transactions.

- Reconciling daily, monthly, and yearly transactions in QuickBooks.

- Tracking bank deposits and payments.

- Assisting in financial management, including cash flows and handling multiple foreign currencies as per donor agreements.

- Reviewing and enforcing financial policies.

- Reviewing invoices and statements for approval.

- Ensuring spending aligns with approved budget lines.

- Recording financial transactions in primary accounting records (Cashbook and QuickBooks).

- Processing staff payroll and monthly salary payments.

- Conducting final checks and verifying financial documents before payments.

- Securing and filing all original financial documents.

- Properly documenting project assets (fixed assets and materials).

- Managing bank accounts, cash flow, payroll, and vendor payments.

- Collaborating with procurement staff to handle travel advances and expense reports.

- Ensuring accurate filing of documents.

- Assisting in monthly cash forecasting and cash requests.

- Reconciling taxes and liability accounts with tax officer records.

- Providing original vouchers for internal and external audits as needed.

- Completing any tasks assigned by the senior accountant or head of finance.

- Assisting with petty cash management.

- Performing additional duties requested by the line manager.

 

Job Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance/Accounting.

- Minimum of three years’ experience with national or international NGOs.

- Certification in QuickBooks.

- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure, quality-focused, and capable of working independently or in teams.
