Job Description:
Position Overview:
The role involves conducting technical surveys, needs assessments, and designing water supply systems, small-scale irrigation structures, and other construction-related projects. It includes preparing BOQs, drawings, and overseeing field activities, in close coordination with the line manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design water supply and sanitation projects.
- Conduct technical surveys for water supply and irrigation projects, ensuring population density is considered.
- Prepare designs, maps, and technical specifications for various water supply systems (gravity-fed, pressure line, solar, motorized, and other hydro-technical structures).
- Inspect the quality of solar water supply systems, including materials such as solar panels, pumps, and inverters.
- Prepare BoQs and cost estimates for designed projects following recognized standards.
- Use relevant software (WaterGem, Google Maps, EPANET, Arc GIS) for project design.
- Conduct technical engineering studies, cost estimates, and analysis for solar-fed water supply networks.
- Prepare detailed designs, calculations, scope of work, specifications, and other documents for projects.
- Participate in technical bid evaluations and respond to design-related queries.
- Ensure all technical projects are properly surveyed, designed, and processed for MoU and shared with field staff for implementation.
- Travel to project sites to conduct surveys and supervise construction.
- Report field visits and share project-related social and economic concerns with the line manager.
- Follow organizational security policies and other tasks as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSc) required.
- Experience: At least three years of experience in a relevant field.
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience in technical surveys and design for water supply and irrigation structures.
- Proficient in using water gems, EPANET, AutoCAD, and other relevant software.
- Strong Excel skills for preparing BoQs and documents.
- Honest, hardworking, and good communication skills.
- Languages: Fluency in English, Dari, and Pashto (oral and written).
