Job Title: Provincial Health Promotion officer

Location: Ghazni, Balkh, Faryab, Baghlan, Badkhshan, Parwan, Zabul, Wardak, Kandahar, Nimroz, Badghis, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar and Kapisa

Sex: Female/Male

Nationality: Afghan

Duration: One year (extendable)

Responsibilities:

Preparation and implementation of SBC/HP annual plan based on provincial SBC/HP priorities

Assist in designing and leading the implementation of HP / SBC intervention

Coordinate all HP / SBC activities at the provincial partners, districts and community levels.

Providing technical assistance and support to different health programs and departments in implementation of health promotion and community engagement programs.

Advocate with religious leaders, local influencers and other decision and policy makers for supporting the HP/SBC interventions.

Design and conduct health communication campaigns for different programs including health and nutrition, etc. as per approved guidelines and annual plans at provincial levels.

Plan and coordinate capacity building workshops on SBC / health promotion for the partners, PHD, health facility staff, and community leaders.

Conduct regular supervision and monitoring of HP and SBC related interventions.

Asses need and distribute communication materials to the HFs, community and or the target audiences.

Develop and implement health promotion/ SBC annual, quarterly and monthly plans for their respective province.

Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual activity reports and other ad-hoc required reports.

Support the cross sectoral initiates (TAVOON, Qaharmanan and Grandmothers group) and other activities by client's LTA holders of the region.

Prepare and submit monthly work plans and progress reports against the work plans.

Document best practices and share with partners for cross learning.

Monitor SBC interventions by partners especially in hard-to-reach areas/districts across the region.

Ensure local coordination and collaboration with key actors (s) such as the de-facto authority, SBC partners, CSOs, FBOs, Client's outposts/provincial coordinator and others.

Follow up of the recommendations with partners, outposts/provincial coordinators which arise from monitoring visits.

Job Requirements:

Qualification and Experience: 

Afghan National

Bachelors degree in any of the relevant areas: social and behavioral science, public health, sociology, anthropology, psychology, education, communication, public relations; postgraduate degree is an asset.

2-3 years of working experience in the public health at least one year experience in community mobilization, health communication and or health promotion.

Strong Communication, coordination and interpersonal skills

Excellent analytical and reporting skills

Fluency in speaking local languages (Pashto and or Dari) and ability to communicate in English

Ability to travel to districts and other provinces.
