Job Description:
INTERSOS is currently seeking Community Managed Disaster Risk Management Facilitators (CMDRM). The DRR field facilitator having expertise in DRR programs, DRR risk assessment, DRR training and awareness, DRR Mainstreaming and integration in project activities and etc.”. He/she will be responsible for looking after the implementation of the DRR in the field component.

Hierarchical: DRR Project Officer
Functional: DRR Project Officer – In absence of the DRR Project Officer to DRR Expert
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Ensure efficient and effective implementation of DRR based interventions, and related interventions at the community level.
Take the lead to sensitize the communities for DRR and mainstreaming in project activities.
Providing support in DRR and resilience-building initiatives in the project target locations.
Support capacity development and provide quality assurance to the ongoing INTERSOS projects, in particular, to mainstream DRR into project strategies.
Support knowledge building and management across projects, and activities.
Formation of village Disaster Management committees and facilitate them in risk assessment and DRM planning.
To conduct broad based community meetings over the importance of Community based disaster risk management (CBDRM) and awareness raising in terms of Climate change mitigation and adaptation.
To lead the teams of community DRR committees in rolling out Disaster Management activities.
To Ensure that CB-DRR is implemented effectively in a good quality standard and ensure consistency of the work in accordance with the project goal and objectives.
To deliver the DRR training at the community level.
To facilitate and supervise capacity building workshops at the community level and also conduct Hazard, Risk, Vulnerability, and Capacity assessment (HRVCA) exercises.
To provide technical support to DRR team and CBDMs in developing community based Disaster Management (CBDM) plans.
Facilitate and organize field visits of various stakeholders on field sides for effective implementation and support to ensure sustainability.
Reviewing of project document and formulation of detailed implementation plan.
Organizing field monitoring visits to ensure quality work and to check activities with regard to the work plan.
Co-ordinate with DRR project officer Integration for effective implementation of CMDRM activities.
Job Requirements:
Education:
A minimum bachelor's degree in Disaster Risk management, social sciences, or management sciences.
Professional requirements:
Basic knowledge of DRR, development, and/or emergency programming.
At least 3 years’ experience working within result-oriented teams.
Couples are preferred (husband and wife or brother and sister)
Experience in the provision of administrative and logistical support and organization of workshops.
Experience in research, analysis, and report writing
Experience in working with government officials and non-governmental organizations.
Demonstrated experience in working in complex working environments.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Access etc.) and experience in handling web-based applications.
