General Scope of the job

Ministry of water and Energy intends to conduct the feasibility studies and detail design of Dams and other water infrastructures projects in the years 2024 -2026.

To conduct the detail design and feasibility studies of dams in a professional manner, Ministry of Water and Energy is looking to hire competent senior dam design specialist with the below job description and responsibilities:

Job description, Responsibilities and Tasks

Disk study and Review of the projects existing documents.

Review of the TORs for feasibly studies and detailed design of projects.

Conducting the feasibly study level design of dams and appurtenant Structures.

Optimization of designs and selecting the most technically and economically feasible option.

Conducting the detailed design of dams and appurtenant Structures.

Preparation/Review the technical specification of the project.

Review of the detailed design packages of Dams, appurtenant structures and hydraulic structure.

Preparation/Review the structure design drawings and calculation of dams, water intake structures, headrace channel, fore bay, penstocks, power house, and tailrace canal.

Responding the client comments related to the design and preparation of the revised design reports and drawings.

Preparation/Review the hydraulic and structural calculation of canals, tunnels, siphons, aqueducts, supper passages and retaining walls.

Attending the required meetings with MWE and others.

Preparation of the monthly activity reports.

Preparation of the TORS for Dam projects.

Preparation of the technical specification for dam projects.

Any other task assigned by the related supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Qualification and experience

The candidate shall have at least BSc. Degree in hydraulics with a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in dam design or a minimum of Master degree in Dam Design or design of Hydraulic structures with a thesis in dam design, has a minimum of five (5) years of experience in design of dams and having the following qualifications, skills and experience:

Fully expert in Software of Geo studio, Dams finite element analysis, Ansys, CADAM and SAP2000.

Expert in design of gravity dams, earth dams, rock fill dams, arch Dams and dams appurtenant structures.

Fully expert and familiar with USBR, ASCE 7-10, ASTM, ACI, USACE and ICOLD standards and Codes.

Speaking fluently in English.
