Job Description:
The District Community Mobilizer will be responsible for maintaining close relationships with the communities to facilitate smooth project implementation through public awareness, community mobilization, sensitization, and contribution in the event of a major humanitarian emergency, Establish effective relationships with the district governor's office, district education department, and district literacy manager. The role holder will spend 80% of his working time in the field. Each community should be visited daily, weekly, and bi-weekly or more, as needed, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
1. Community Mobilization:
Conduct awareness sessions with community members about the importance of education, particularly for girls.
Facilitate the formation and capacity building of School Management Shura (SMSs).
Maintain regular contact with community leaders and SMSs to ensure strong community participation and ownership.
2. Enrollment and Monitoring:
Support in identifying and enrolling eligible children for CBE, ALC, and ALP classes.
Ensure accurate data collection and maintenance of student attendance and enrollment records.
Regularly monitor class attendance of learners and teachers and address issues promptly in coordination with VLCs and project staff.
3. Distribution Management:
Oversee the distribution of teaching and learning materials (TLMs), hygiene kits, and other educational supplies to the classes.
Ensure proper documentation and acknowledgment from VLCs and other stakeholders during distributions.
4. Coordination:
Act as the key focal point between the community, project staff, and district education authorities.
Facilitate meetings with SMSs, District Education Departments (DEDs), and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals.
Support teacher recruitment and ensure the involvement of communities in the selection process.
5. Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare and submit detailed weekly and monthly reports to the Project Officer/Field Coordinator and Master trainers.
Document success stories, challenges, and lessons learned for continuous improvement of the project.
Ensure all administrative and logistical documentation is completed and shared with relevant departments.
6. Advocacy and Outreach:
Advocate for gender equity in education and encourage families to send their children, especially girls, to school.
Address challenges such as early marriages, cultural barriers, or resistance to education by engaging with community elders and influential figures.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or related fields (preferred).
Minimum 3 years of experience in community mobilization or related work, preferably in education projects.
Familiarity with CBE, ALC, and ALP structures and goals.
Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
Proficiency in local languages; knowledge of English is an asset.
Ability to work effectively in remote and challenging environments.
Skills and Competencies:
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with communities and stakeholders.
Strong oral and written communication skills in Pashto /Dari, skills in English will also be an asset.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Good understanding of gender and inclusivity issues in education.
Willingness to travel frequently to remote and underserved areas.
Commitment to organizational principles of accountability and transparency.
Language skills:
Fluent oral and written skills in Pashto and Dari, fluent in English is a plus point
