The Project Associate will work under the overall supervision of the Project Manager and the direct guidance of the Project Specialist. The role includes performing various key responsibilities as outlined below:

Responsibilities:

Support the Development and Implementation of Project Activities:

  • Assist in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating project activities to achieve planned results.
  • Facilitate coordination and networking with clients, stakeholders, and program partners.
  • Provide technical guidance for project planning and monitoring, ensuring compliance with work plans and organizational standards.
  • Use results-based management (RBM) tools to set management targets and monitor outcomes.
  • Support project reviews, evaluations, and reporting, including drafting periodic and annual reports.
  • Develop mechanisms for collaboration among partners and explore funding opportunities for new initiatives.
  • Conduct field visits to ensure compliance with UNDP regulations, including social and environmental standards.
  • Compile and consolidate reports from partners and coordinate the creation of high-quality media and success stories.

Ensure Efficient Project Delivery:

  • Contribute to preparing work, operational, and procurement plans, and regularly review progress.
  • Support quality control, assess impact and effectiveness, and monitor timely delivery of project activities.
  • Maintain a filing system to document project implementation for future operational and financial audits.
  • Assist in preparing progress reports and provide updates to the Project Specialist/Manager, flagging deviations.

Administration and Operational Support:

  • Ensure compliance with UNDP and donor regulations in finance, procurement, and operational activities.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as travel, logistics, and procurement management.
  • Organize procurement processes, including the preparation and evaluation of RFQs, ITBs, or RFPs.
  • Assist with budget revisions, asset inventory, and compliance audits.

Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building:

  • Identify and document best practices and lessons learned from project activities.
  • Ensure knowledge-sharing is integrated into work plans and project strategies.
  • Provide administrative and technical support for meetings, workshops, and capacity-building initiatives.

Additional Duties:

  • Undertake other tasks within the role’s functional scope to ensure the efficiency of the office and organization.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Secondary education is required. A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Political Science, or Social Sciences is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience:

  • Six years of relevant administrative or programmatic experience with secondary education or three years with a bachelor’s degree.
  • Familiarity with project tracking, reporting, grievance resolution, and risk management tools.
  • Experience with UN or NGO programs is desirable.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English, Dari, or Pashto is required.
