Job Description

Responsibilities:

Assist in Device Fabrication and Maintenance:

  • Support the orthopedic technician in creating, repairing, and maintaining orthopedic devices like prosthetics, orthotics, braces, and splints.
  • Prepare materials, molds, and tools for device production, ensuring they are clean, organized, and stored correctly.
  • Learn and apply basic techniques for casting, molding, shaping, and assembling orthopedic devices under supervision.

Patient Support and Assistance:

  • Assist in measuring and evaluating patients for orthopedic devices, prosthetics, and orthotics, adhering to established protocols.
  • Provide support to patients during device fittings, adjustments, and trials to ensure comfort, proper fit, and functionality.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and rehabilitation teams to support patient care and treatment activities.

Documentation and Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of patient visits, device prescriptions, fittings, adjustments, and repairs according to clinical protocols.
  • Help manage inventory of orthopedic materials, supplies, and equipment, ensuring proper stock levels and organization.
  • Document and label orthopedic devices and materials with details like expiration dates and batch numbers.

Cleaning and Sterilization:

  • Assist in cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing orthopedic devices, tools, and equipment in line with infection control guidelines.
  • Keep the orthopedic workshop clean and organized, including work surfaces, tools, and storage areas.
  • Follow safety procedures to reduce risks of injury or infection during device-related tasks.

Office Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement work plans, with approval from the project manager.
  • Coordinate activities and maintain organized filing systems.
  • Prepare accurate daily, monthly, and quarterly reports for supervisors.
  • Update and manage databases effectively.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of office tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Protect and manage departmental property and goods.
  • Improve operational efficiencies and address delinquent accounts.
  • Build capacity and enhance knowledge in line with organizational standards.
  • Adhere to ethical codes, conduct guidelines, and organizational policies.
  • Stay informed about applicable government regulations and laws.
  • Exhibit professionalism with clients and colleagues and promptly report incidents.
  • Undertake other tasks as assigned by the department.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience as an orthopedic technician.
  • Diploma in orthopedic technology.
  • Familiarity with organizational policies and legal guidelines related to the role.
  • Ability to adapt to different job descriptions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
