Job Summary:
The role involves supporting the project in delivering health care services to communities at the CHC (Community Health Center) and BHC (Basic Health Center) levels. The incumbent will work on increasing community health awareness, engaging communities in health promotion, and empowering women to participate in these processes. Additionally, the role will assist the project team in the overall implementation and management of the project at both the CHC and BHC levels.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Objective 1: Implement Community-based Health and Protection Promotion
- Establish male and female community-based health and nutrition promotion committees in targeted areas.
- Organize and conduct orientation sessions for community elders, men, and women on health and protection topics.
- Plan, organize, and carry out daily and monthly orientation sessions focused on health-related messages.
- Facilitate regular community sensitization sessions for beneficiaries and record necessary data in reporting tools.
Objective 2: Conduct Health and Nutrition Education Sessions
- Prepare educational materials for health and promotion sessions.
- Lead regular health, nutrition, and community health education sessions for clients.
- Encourage behavior change related to health, nutrition, and mental health in targeted areas.
- Distribute program-related items to beneficiaries in the centers and surrounding areas.
- Keep accurate records of all activities in validated reporting tools.
Objective 3: Represent the Organization at the Community and Center Level
- Present the organization's programs and values to local communities.
- Build relationships with stakeholders and explain program activities and objectives.
- Represent the organization with beneficiaries, as per guidance from the health supervisor.
- Keep local authorities informed about all aspects of the program and involve communities in its implementation.
- Organize community dialogues and meetings on health promotion topics.
Objective 4: Execute Community Health Promotion Activities
- Implement community health screening, planning, and monitoring activities.
- Facilitate community engagement with health centers.
- Identify training needs for community health workers (CHWs) and create training programs.
- Support the delivery of health services at health centers and assist with clinical activities.
- Organize first aid training and distribute first aid kits.
- Collect reports from CHWs and monitor health posts.
- Contribute to improving health-seeking behavior in the target population.
- Ensure proper referral of clients to appropriate centers.
- Regularly visit communities under your responsibility and maintain records of screened beneficiaries.
Job Requirements:
- Graduation from a recognized institute in Public Health, Nursing, or Midwifery.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in health and nutrition promotion.
- Experience in community-level health promotion and health center operations.
- Experience in promoting behavior change is preferred.
- Background in health care service delivery.
- Strong communication skills with communities.
- Good training and demonstration abilities.
- High level of flexibility and adaptability.
- Strong planning, organizing, and reporting skills.
- Ability to work in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Fluency in local languages (Dari and Pashto); knowledge of English is an advantage.
- Familiarity with the intervention area is a plus.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across units to achieve shared goals.
- Willingness to continuously learn and share knowledge.
