Job Summary
The position involves providing technical support for Project Outcome 3, aimed at improving market connectivity and value-chain access for small-holder producers. The role focuses on supporting small-holder producers and agri-businesses in enhancing market access and implementing value-chain strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support
- Assist small-holder producers in improving market connectivity and value-chain access.
- Support the development of business plans for small-holder producers, leveraging local market opportunities and value-chain assessments.
- Facilitate connections between producers and buyers through initiatives like buyer-seller meets, B2B platforms, branding, value addition, and channel management.
- Work with provincial teams to establish backward and forward linkages, ensuring access to quality inputs, technical knowledge, value addition, and market opportunities.
- Provide incubation and technical guidance to rural entrepreneurs in targeted commodity value chains.
- Collaborate with local training providers to design and deliver agribusiness training programs.
- Develop financial models and marketing plans to help small-holder businesses achieve sustainability and growth.
- Strengthen connections between farmers and value-chain stakeholders, fostering mutually beneficial relationships.
- Support the regional team in establishing and reinforcing market linkages to promote demand-driven agricultural production and value-chain development.
Reporting, Communication, and Visibility
- Work with the project team to ensure timely, high-quality reporting on activities, targets, and achievements.
- Document project learnings, success stories, and best practices to inform decision-making and future project designs.
- Collaborate with the NCA Communications team to create materials that engage the media on SME entrepreneurship and value-chain development.
- Monitor and supervise project activities, providing on-field mentoring and support to improve group performance and outcomes.
Job Requirements
- Education Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Rural Development, Value Chain Management, Food Security, Microfinance, or Business Administration. Extensive relevant experience may substitute for a postgraduate degree.
- Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in business training, grants, or consulting.
- Experience with international organizations and WFP projects is advantageous.
- Skills
- Strong English communication, writing, and presentation skills.
- Commitment to teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Project management expertise, particularly with MSMEs and value chains.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
- Time management, facilitation, and strategic thinking skills.
- Other Requirements
- Willingness to travel to project areas.
- Experience in implementing projects in remote areas is a plus.
