Job Description:

 

General Duties:

 

- Stay updated on developments in service provision, including maintaining a spreadsheet with mapped services and focal points.

- Actively participate in weekly case management team meetings and be open to feedback and self-improvement.

- Practice self-care, recognizing personal needs, limits, and signs of burnout.

- Exhibit qualities such as honesty, kindness, professionalism, non-discrimination, and teamwork while remaining true to oneself.

- Communicate proactively with relevant internal units to highlight challenges, propose solutions, and monitor trends affecting children and their families.

- Take full responsibility for drafting, maintaining, and updating reports, including case management reports.

- Identify opportunities to improve support for children by enhancing processes and systems.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Specific Duties:

 

- Identify children at risk of protection issues, including child labor, abuse, unaccompanied minors, and other child protection concerns.

- Deliver case management services following IRC's Standard Operating Procedures and Global Child Protection Case Management Guidelines.

- Conduct outreach to assess and support children during home visits and through Safe Healing and Learning Spaces in Afghanistan.

- Independently manage case action plans and update relevant administrative forms to ensure accountability and planning on a daily and weekly basis.

- Maintain thorough documentation of case management files in accordance with IRC's SOPs and other relevant procedures.

- Assess the risk level faced by children and report any potentially high-risk cases to the direct line manager (Case Management Officer, Senior Child Protection Officer, or Child Protection Manager).

- Continuously map services in different areas and facilitate access to these services for children and their families, even if it requires innovative solutions, advocacy, or collaboration with management, working groups, or authorities.

- Represent IRC positively by maintaining regular communication with external referral agencies and understanding the criteria for service provision.

 

Job Requirements:

 

- Education Technical diploma or degree in psychology, social work, human rights, or a related field is preferred.

- Experience: At least 1 to 2 years of experience implementing child protection programs, ideally in social work or case management, in humanitarian or development settings.

- Skills: Dedication to serving children and upholding the principles of "do no harm" and the best interests of the child. Belief in children as agents of change in their communities.

- Technical Competency: Experience working with children, especially those who are vulnerable.

-Personal Qualities: Team player, adaptable, network-builder, able to handle stress, and work in a cross-cultural environment.

- Communication and Reporting Skills:** Strong advocate for children as change agents in their communities.

- Language: Proficiency in Pashto, Dari, and English.

- Computer Skills: Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, Access, and the internet is an asset.

- Interpersonal Skills:  Ability to work closely and constructively with individuals of all nationalities, ethnicities, genders, religions, races, tribes, or cultural backgrounds.
