Job Description:

 

- Plan and manage the establishment of Safe Healing and Learning Spaces (SHLS) according to IRC policies and best practices.

- Oversee and provide ongoing training to the SHLS Team Leader and community facilitators.

- Ensure the safe and effective execution of SHLS activities, including social-emotional learning and parenting skills programs.

- Identify children at risk or who have experienced harm, and facilitate access to services through child protection referrals. Ensure the Team Leader and facilitators are trained to identify, make, and follow up on referrals, coordinating with the Case Management Officer and Community-Based Protection Officer as needed.

- Support children who leave SHLS by assisting with their enrollment and integration into public schools.

- Collaborate with community members and leaders to ensure SHLS programs prioritize the most vulnerable children, including those engaged in child labor, unaccompanied minors, out-of-school children, and children at risk of early marriage or abuse.

- Accept referrals for SHLS programs through community protection committees, service providers, and child protection teams.

- Promote gender balance in SHLS participation, ensuring equal opportunities for boys and girls.

- Assist in developing and distributing key messages on child rights and well-being, and support community awareness initiatives to highlight child protection risks.

- Adhere to child protection standards in all activities, including "do no harm," informed consent, and prioritizing children's best interests while maintaining a safe environment for their development.

- Monitor community child protection risks and offer recommendations for programming and advocacy to the Senior Child Protection Officer and Child Protection Manager.

- Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor to support IRC programs.

 

Job Requirements:

 

- Education: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, sociology, psychology, law).

- Experience: 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, including at least 1 year in humanitarian protection programs in emergency or conflict situations. Report writing, protection monitoring, and case management experience preferred.

- Skills:  Strong communication skills for building trust and relationships in new communities.

- Technical Competency:  Experience in survey or assessment design and implementation is preferred.

- Language:  Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English, with strong written and spoken skills.

- Computer Skills:  Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet use is beneficial.

- Interpersonal Skills:  Ability to work constructively with people of different nationalities, ethnicities, genders, religions, and cultural backgrounds.
