Job Description:

 

- Plan and oversee the strategic establishment and management of Safe Healing and Learning Spaces (SHLS) in line with best practices and IRC policies.

- Supervise and provide ongoing training to the SHLS Team Leader and community-based facilitators.

- Ensure the safe and effective delivery of SHLS programs, such as social-emotional learning and parenting skills interventions.

- Identify and provide support for children at risk or who have experienced harm, ensuring they can access services through child protection referrals. Train the Team Leader and SHLS facilitators to recognize referral needs and manage referrals in collaboration with the Case Management Officer and Community-Based Protection Officer.

- Support children who discontinue SHLS by facilitating their enrollment and integration into public schools.

- Collaborate with communities and local leaders to ensure SHLS programming reaches the most vulnerable children, including those involved in child labor, unaccompanied or separated children, those out of school, children at risk of early marriage, and children who have suffered abuse or neglect.

- Receive referrals for SHLS programs through Community-Based Protection Committees, local service providers, and child protection teams.

- Promote gender equality in SHLS participation by ensuring that both boys and girls have equal opportunities to join activities.

- Help develop and share key protection messages related to child rights and well-being, and support community-based awareness initiatives to educate about child protection risks.

- Ensure all activities adhere to child protection standards, including principles of "do no harm," informed consent, the child's best interests, and maintaining a safe environment for healthy development.

- Monitor child protection risks within communities and provide recommendations to the Senior Child Protection Officer and Child Protection Manager for program and advocacy adjustments.

- Perform other duties relevant to IRC programs as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Job Requirements:

 

- Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., social work, sociology, psychology, law).

- Experience: 2 to 3 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 1 year in humanitarian protection programs in emergency or conflict settings. Experience in report writing, protection monitoring, and case management is preferred.

- Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to build trust and relationships within new communities.

- Technical Competency: Experience in designing and implementing surveys or assessments is preferred.

- Languages: Fluency in Pashto, Dari, and English, with strong spoken and written skills.

- Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Access, and internet use is an advantage.

- Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work closely and professionally with individuals from diverse backgrounds, regardless of nationality, ethnicity, gender, religion, race, tribe, or cultural background.
