Job Description:

 

The Site Engineer/Shelter Engineer is responsible for advising on the planning, coordination, and supervision of the technical aspects of shelter construction projects. The role includes monitoring construction progress, resolving technical issues, managing project tasks, and preparing reports.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Actively monitor shelter projects in the field, ensuring baseline data and other activities are accurately observed and recorded for future reporting.

- Track shelter construction progress and report updates to the senior engineer.

- Solve technical issues, provide guidance, and oversee project management tasks.

- Conduct technical and feasibility studies, including site investigations.

- Ensure projects are completed smoothly, within budget, and on schedule.

- Perform site visits in Paktika province to check the quality and standards of shelter construction, providing feedback as necessary.

- Review plans and drawings to ensure all calculations are correct.

- Serve as the main technical advisor on construction sites, setting out, surveying, and leveling the project areas to establish benchmarks for shelter construction.

- Secure necessary permits from local authorities, communities, and relevant government bodies before construction starts. This involves completing paperwork and having plans reviewed and approved by inspectors.

- Coordinate with clients and representatives, including surveyors, architects, and designers.

- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Project Manager.

 

Job Requirements: 

- At least four years of relevant experience.

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

- Proficiency in engineering software, including CAD.

- Good knowledge of KOBO.

- Strong command of local languages and English.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Experience in teaching delivery methods.

- Cultural awareness, sensitivity, and a sound work ethic.
