Key Areas of Accountability: The primary responsibilities of this position involve supporting the implementation of the agriculture component under the SC-NI grant across the designated provinces.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the project team with community mobilization and awareness-raising efforts.
  • Conduct beneficiary selection using appropriate household selection methods.
  • Lead the planning and execution of climate-smart agriculture initiatives, including the distribution of drought-resistant seeds, tools, and inputs to farmers.
  • Provide technical training and capacity-building opportunities to farmers in climate-smart agricultural techniques, food processing, handling, storage, and marketing.
  • Support the development of small and medium-scale food processing businesses, enhancing their market access and boosting food production and income.
  • Monitor agricultural activities to ensure increased productivity and the adoption of climate-resilient practices among target communities.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, agricultural cooperatives, and other stakeholders to ensure successful agronomy interventions.
  • Conduct participatory assessments and surveys to identify agricultural needs and potential improvements within the targeted communities.
  • Ensure that all agronomy interventions adhere to gender-sensitive approaches, promoting active participation of women and youth in agricultural activities.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on the progress of agronomy-related activities.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning:

  • Develop and implement an action plan for quality monitoring.
  • Raise community awareness of project objectives, outputs, activities, MEAL systems, and SCI Child Safeguarding Policies.
  • Facilitate the dissemination of project information during events such as training sessions and workshops.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Agronomy or Agriculture.

Experience and Skills: Essential:

  • At least three years of experience in agronomy, climate-smart agriculture, or related livelihood programs.
  • Strong knowledge of climate change effects on agriculture and sustainable farming practices.
  • Experience working with rural and vulnerable communities, including returnees and pastoral populations.
  • Excellent training and facilitation skills, particularly in building capacity in rural agricultural settings.
  • Strong organizational and reporting abilities.
