Job Description:
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Willingness and ability to travel to all SHCs as needed for health service delivery.
- As a backup Medical Doctor (MD), the individual will visit various Health Facilities (HFs) based on demand.
- Provide emergency first aid whenever necessary.
- Deliver curative services to patients in accordance with health facility standards.
- Support the delivery of primary health care within the health facility.
- Under the direct supervision of the Health Officer, the Medical Doctor/Nurse will be responsible for key activities to ensure the provision of quality outpatient department (OPD) services.
- Promote rational medication use among patients at the SHC.
- Submit monthly consumption reports for medicines and medical supplies.
- Provide all monthly reports using the Health Management Information System (HMIS) tools.
- Ensure proper registration and measurement of vital signs for patients during triage.
- Administer dressings and first aid to injured patients as needed.
- Maintain regular records and reports of beneficiaries or patients.
- Identify patients needing urgent care and refer them immediately to an equipped Health Centre.
- Register patients seeking care at the SHC in the registration log.
- Adhere to IMC standards for patient referral and stabilization procedures.
- Participate in the management of pharmaceutical goods and medical equipment.
- Accompany patients to external referral health facilities when necessary.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the immediate supervisor.

- All staff share the responsibility to safeguard and protect the populations with whom we work, including vulnerable adults and children. This involves protecting against sexual exploitation and abuse, neglect or abuse of children and vulnerable adults, and any form of human trafficking.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be MDs who have graduated from a recognized medical school.
- A minimum of one year of experience is required for candidates from INGOs/NGOs.
- Candidates with at least two years of experience in Basic Package of Health Services (BPHS) or Essential Package of Health Services (EPHS) health facilities are required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in BPHS health facilities.
Experience:
- Preference for candidates residing in Laghman & Kunar provinces for the duty station.
- The MD must provide regular reports promptly.
- The MD must possess strong communication and liaison skills with both the community and project staff.
- Experience working in BPHS health facilities is required.
Competency:
- The backup MD must be fluent in Pashto, Dari, and English, and be able to travel throughout all districts of Laghman & Kunar for the tasks mentioned.
