FAO Afghanistan is actively working across all 34 provinces to strengthen resilience by protecting agricultural livelihoods and local ecosystems, enhancing the production of nutritious foods and cash incomes, and preserving key agricultural development achievements from the past two decades. These efforts include revitalizing rural markets and the economy. FAO provides both humanitarian assistance and essential support to male and female farmers and herders in Afghanistan, addressing agriculture, livestock, irrigation, and natural resources through various projects and programs. These initiatives align with the 2024 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) and the United Nations Strategic Framework for Afghanistan (UNSFA) 2023-2025, particularly under UNSFA Priority 2: Economic Opportunities and Resilient Livelihoods.
