Job Description:

Job Summary

Translation of Geoscience and mines relevant materials from English to Dari language. The translator will work under direct supervision of HTRC Senior Translator;

Duration of the Assignment:

The assignment will be initially for 1 month, subject to satisfactory performance at the end of the first 1-month. After 1 month, subject to a complete performance review, an extension to the contract may be considered on freelancer basis.

Duty Station:

The duty station of this position will be HTRC head office, Kabul, Afghanistan.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Translator will perform the following functions, but not limited to:

Accurate and high-quality translations of all assigned documents from English to Dari.

A glossary of key terms used in the translated documents.

Revised translations based on feedback from the Senior Translator and/or other reviewers (clients).

Prepare timely translation of all Geoscience and mines relevant documents, including formatting, from English to Dari language.

Meeting the deadline given by the Senior Translator for completion of the task.

Any other tasks assigned as appropriate;

Job Requirements:

The translator will be expected to have:

A Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field (Geoscience and mines) preferred.

At least 3 years of experience in translating documents from English to Dari, preferably in Geoscience, mines and minerals.

Full working knowledge of English.

Computer knowledge, MS. Office.

Subject Matter Expertise: Strong understanding of the subject matter of the documents to be translated.
