Job Summary:

The Funding Coordinator is responsible for devising and implementing effective fundraising strategies to ensure the long-term sustainability of NCA Afghanistan's programs. This role demands a proactive individual with expertise in personal development, donor relations, communications, and visibility. The coordinator will collaborate closely with the Head of Program to identify funding prospects, draft persuasive proposals and reports, and manage communications to meet donor and NCA branding requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising Strategy and Donor Engagement:

  • Design and execute a fundraising strategy aligned with NCA Afghanistan's strategic goals.
  • Identify and secure new funding opportunities from institutional donors, international organizations, foundations, and private sector entities.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with current and potential donors to ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Develop and submit concept notes, proposals, and budgets in collaboration with the Head of Program.

2. Proposal Development and Reporting:

  • Lead the creation of high-quality project proposals, adhering to donor guidelines and expectations.
  • Collaborate with technical staff to craft project narratives, logical frameworks, and budgets aligned with donor and NCA priorities.
  • Manage proposal submission timelines and ensure timely completion.
  • Oversee donor reporting processes to meet both narrative and financial requirements.

3. Communications, Visibility, and Branding:

  • Effectively communicate NCA Afghanistan's achievements to donors, partners, and the public.
  • Produce communication materials, such as brochures, newsletters, success stories, and social media content, to showcase program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with program teams to ensure compliance with donor and NCA branding requirements at project sites and events.
  • Lead media and communication campaigns to raise awareness of NCA Afghanistan's work.

4. Capacity Building and Coordination:

  • Provide training and support to program teams in fundraising, proposal writing, and donor reporting.
  • Serve as the central coordinator for fundraising efforts, ensuring collaboration across program units.
  • Organize donor visits and represent NCA Afghanistan at meetings and networking events.

5. Monitoring and Knowledge Management:

  • Monitor and analyze funding trends relevant to NCA Afghanistan's work.
  • Maintain an updated donor database, including contacts, deadlines, and grant history.
  • Document and share lessons learned and best practices in fundraising with stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Journalism, Communications, or related fields (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience:

  • 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, proposal development, or donor relations within the development or humanitarian sectors.

Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of donor regulations, particularly for institutional donors like FCDO, EU, USAID.
  • Proven expertise in creating communication materials and adhering to branding standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and proposal writing tools.
  • Fluency in English, Pashto, and Dari.
  • Strong time management, strategic planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations.
  • Strong analytical and creative thinking abilities, with attention to detail.
