Job Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assess the emotional, behavioral, and social needs of clients to determine the most suitable treatment plan.
- Provide individual and group counseling to help clients manage mental health issues and symptoms.
- Develop session plans for both individual and group counseling based on assessments and analysis of clients’ situations.
- Release clients or groups following a thorough evaluation of their progress.
- Organize release sessions for groups and individual clients under the PM's direction.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of MHPSS services provided by WJO.
- Conduct awareness campaigns on psychosocial symptoms and stressors.
- Prepare psychological assessment letters for clients referred by WJO's partner networks after evaluating their situations.
- Ensure proper discharge, referral, and feedback processes for clients.
- Maintain accurate daily documentation of client case notes and files.
Referral Pathways
- Identify clients needing inpatient psychological treatment and refer them to appropriate facilities.
- Collaborate with professional centers and hospitals for client referrals.
- Conduct follow-up sessions for referred clients.
- Work alongside MHPSS professionals, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers, to assess and support clients effectively.
Documentation Responsibilities
- Complete standardized client information forms.
- Safeguard client records and ensure confidentiality.
- Regularly document human-interest case stories per provided schedules and guidelines.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for donors and relevant departments.
- Process project-related documents and reports specific to Nangarhar Province.
Training and Capacity Building
- Collaborate with other counselors to develop training modules and content.
- Facilitate training sessions and workshops.
- Participate in capacity-building workshops and training programs.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor or WJO Management.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and certified by MoPH as a counselor.
- 3–4 years of experience in psychosocial counseling and MHPSS services.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Trustworthy and empathetic personality.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to confidentiality.
- Proficiency in English, Dari, and Pashto (spoken and written).
- Residency in Nangarhar Province preferred.
- Professionalism and adherence to medical ethics in interactions with clients and staff.
