Job Description:

 

Position Overview: The role involves ensuring the accurate collection and management of data related to the Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI & EPI) in the province.

 

Organizational Context:The position is supervised directly by the ARPO/WHO Regional Team Lead/Medical Officer for Polio and overall oversight from the WHO Representative in Afghanistan.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The Data Clerk will perform the following tasks under the supervision of the Provincial Polio Officer and in close coordination with the Provincial PEI Manager:

 

- Compile data on supplementary immunization activities, including pre-, intra-, and post-campaign data.

- Collect administrative (reported) coverage and intra-campaign monitoring data for all supplementary immunization activities (OPV and OPV/IPV).

- Gather and forward polio surveillance data.

- Validate and clean the collected data, maintaining a provincial data repository.

- Submit the validated data to regional and provincial levels within program timelines.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Qualifications:

 

- Afghan national.

- Diploma or degree in Computer Science/IT.

- At least 2 years of relevant data management experience.

- Experience with international agencies is a plus.

- Proficiency in English and local languages.

- Residence in the assigned area or familiarity with it.

- Ability to work well in teams and adapt to diverse social and cultural environments.

- High personal integrity and conduct standards.

- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends, especially during key events like conferences, meetings, vaccination campaigns, and other essential activities.

Required Functional Skills:

 

- At least two years of experience in data entry.

- Familiarity with administrative and clerical procedures, including word processing, file management, and office operations.

- Ability to speak Dari, Pashto, and basic English.

- Willingness to work late hours during campaigns.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Full-time commitment, without dual responsibilities.

 

Education:

- Essential: Diploma or degree in Computer Science/IT.

 

Experience:

-Essential: At least 2 years of data-related experience.

- Desirable:Experience with UN/Government/NGO systems.

 

Languages:

- Proficiency in English and local languages is required.

 

Selection Process:

 

- Longlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on meeting the minimum qualifications and relevant experience.

- Shortlisting: Further selection will be based on years of relevant experience, higher education, and required skills.

 

Assessment Method:

WHO may assess candidates through written tests, presentations, and interviews.
