Job Description

 

Position Objective:

Accelerate Prosperity (AP), initiated by the Aga Khan Development Network, is a joint venture of the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development’s Industrial Promotion Services (AKFED IPS), launched in 2016. Established initially in Pakistan and Tajikistan, it expanded to Kyrgyzstan in 2018 and Afghanistan in 2021. Though not a standalone entity in Afghanistan, discussions are ongoing to identify the optimal legal framework.

 

AP aims to boost entrepreneurship, job creation, and socio-economic growth through a structured acceleration program. This includes training, expert technical assistance, mentorship by seasoned entrepreneurs, and tailored financing for startups and small businesses. AP collaborates with emerging businesses in sectors like agribusiness, digital content, hospitality, and commercial services, utilizing the private sector’s creative and commercial resources, including AKFED IPS, to address business challenges.

 

Position Overview:

The Investment Analyst, reporting to the Investment Manager, plays a crucial role in overseeing and efficiently managing AP's investment operations. The role involves shaping and executing AP's investment strategy, maintaining compliance with regulations, and ensuring alignment with the organization's policies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

- Pipeline Development:  Assist in marketing, selecting, training, and advising startups and small businesses for AP’s program.

-Investment Readiness:

 - Financial Modeling: Develop financial models and pitch materials for review by investment committees.  

 -Due Diligence:Conduct risk assessments for equity investments and other financial support.  

 - Pitch Sessions: Support final pitch events, connecting top startups with potential investors.  

- Investment Deployment:

 -Approvals: Help secure internal approvals for investment proposals.  

 - Documentation:  Work with legal teams to finalize investment agreements.  

- Post-Investment Monitoring:

 - Ensure compliance with agreements, offer training and advisory support, and manage repayments and exits as necessary.  

- Additional Duties: Perform tasks assigned by the Investment Manager or AP Country Director.

 

Core Competencies and Requirements:

- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or master’s in accounting, economics, or related fields. Certifications like ACCA, CFA, or FMVA are advantageous.

- Experience:  At least 3 years in the investment or finance sectors, with experience in startups or venture capital preferred.

- Risk Management:  Expertise in risk assessment, particularly in banking.

- Work Ethic:  Proactive and committed to achieving objectives.

- Language:Pr oficient in English and relevant local languages.
