Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Field Technology Section and the Regional Administrative Officer, the incumbent is responsible for:
- Assisting with support for computer systems, applications, server operations, network projects, databases, and troubleshooting service requests.
- Providing timely IT support across mission components and sites.
- Logging and managing service requests or problem reports in the automated tracking system.
- Attempting to resolve issues at first contact, including basic hardware, software, or connectivity problems.
- Supporting the Network Unit in maintaining network connectivity throughout the mission and team sites.
- Handling service requests such as equipment installation, replacement, transfer, and software installations.
- Escalating unresolved issues as per established protocols.
- Offering basic training to users on standard systems usage.
- Deploying new computers and IT equipment within the mission.
- Coordinating with the Assets Management Unit for inventory updates.
- Assisting with Help Desk management in the supervisor's absence.
- Staying informed about technology trends in the UN and the industry.
- Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, networks, printers, and scanners.
- Acting as a support point of contact for service users and customers.
- Assisting in data collection, analysis, and the preparation of reports for decision-making and knowledge management.
- Helping with updating web pages or brochures and other information materials.
- Performing additional tasks as needed.
