About Us

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is the UN agency dedicated to human settlements. Mandated by the UN General Assembly, its mission is to promote socially and environmentally sustainable urban development, aiming to ensure adequate shelter for all. This position is based in the UN-Habitat Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) at the Kabul duty station.

UN-Habitat Afghanistan

Since 1992, UN-Habitat has been actively engaged in Afghanistan, receiving funding from various donors, including USAID, the Governments of Japan and Australia, the EU, CIDA, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and numerous other bilateral and multilateral donors. Over the years, its programs have expanded to include a diverse range of initiatives, such as emergency humanitarian support, small-scale neighborhood improvements, and municipal governance reforms.

Operations Division

The Operations Section of the UN-Habitat Afghanistan Programme is responsible for providing professional, accurate, timely, and efficient support to the country office program. It ensures the proper utilization of financial resources in accordance with UN rules and regulations, in the best interest of the organization. The section oversees Finance Management, Human Resource Management, ICT, Procurement, and Security.
