People in Need (PIN) is a Czech non-governmental, non-profit organization founded on the principles of humanism, freedom, equality, and solidarity. Guided by the core values of human dignity and freedom, PIN upholds the belief that every individual, regardless of location, should have the right to make their own life decisions and enjoy the rights outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
PIN’s operations in Afghanistan began in November 2001 with emergency food distribution in the mountainous regions of the central highlands. Over two decades, the program has expanded and diversified while remaining true to PIN’s mission: striving for a world where people are free to shape their own lives without being hindered by societal oppression, poverty, lack of education, or discrimination. Today, PIN operates across the humanitarian and development spectrum, providing immediate aid and supporting Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations in achieving sustainable, long-term solutions to their challenges.
