About Mercy Corps:
Mercy Corps is a leading global organization driven by the belief that a better world is possible. In times of disaster and hardship, across more than 40 countries, we work together to implement bold solutions, helping people overcome adversity and build stronger communities, both now and for the future.
Enhancing resilience lies at the core of what Mercy Corps does and how we operate. Resilience means that individuals and systems can protect and improve well-being in the face of shocks and stresses. Mercy Corps strengthens sources of resilience to enhance the capacities of people, markets, and institutions to handle shocks, reduce risk, build more equitable and responsive systems, and improve well-being. Through our programs, partnerships, and influence, we support communities to cope, adapt, and ultimately thrive.
Since 1986, Mercy Corps Afghanistan has assisted communities in recovering and building resilience to future shocks while promoting sustainable change through community-led and market-driven initiatives, with a focus on the most marginalized. Our objectives include meeting immediate food and nutrition needs through cash, voucher, and WASH assistance, strengthening capacities for crisis preparedness and response, and contributing to resilience through inclusive, climate-smart water systems, enhanced livelihood opportunities, food security, and social cohesion.
Ongoing Learning
In alignment with our belief that learning organizations are more effective, efficient, and relevant to the communities we serve, we empower all team members to dedicate 5% of their time to learning activities that advance their personal and/or professional growth and development.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
Achieving our mission starts with how we build our team and collaborate. By committing to an organization enriched with individuals of diverse origins, beliefs, backgrounds, and perspectives, we can harness the collective power of our teams to tackle the world's most complex challenges. We aim to foster a culture of trust and respect where everyone contributes authentically, reaches their potential as individuals and teams, and collaborates to achieve their best work.
We acknowledge that diversity and inclusion is a journey, and we remain committed to learning, listening, and evolving to become increasingly diverse, equitable, and inclusive.
Equal Employment Opportunity
Mercy Corps is an equal opportunity employer and does not tolerate discrimination on any grounds. We actively seek diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and skills to build collective strength and sustain global impact.
We are committed to fostering a respectful and psychologically safe environment where equal employment opportunities are available to all. Safeguarding & Ethics
Mercy Corps is dedicated to ensuring that all individuals we interact with—including team members, community members, program participants, or others—are treated with respect and dignity. We adhere to core principles for the prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse outlined by the UN Secretary-General and the IASC, and we have endorsed the Interagency Misconduct Disclosure Scheme.
By applying for a role, applicants confirm they have not previously violated any employer’s policy on sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, abuse, child safeguarding, or trafficking. We do not tolerate child abuse, sexual exploitation, abuse, or harassment by or of our team members.
As part of our commitment to a safe and inclusive work environment, team members are expected to conduct themselves professionally, respect local laws and customs, and comply with Mercy Corps’ Code of Conduct and values at all times. Team members are required to complete mandatory Code of Conduct e-learning courses upon hire and annually.
